Overview
TruGlif Met is a fixed-dose combination of empagliflozin, a sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitor, and metformin, a biguanide antihyperglycemic agent. Developed and marketed by AGP in Pakistan, it is indicated as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Empagliflozin works by reducing renal glucose reabsorption and increasing urinary glucose excretion, while metformin decreases hepatic glucose production, decreases intestinal absorption of glucose, and improves insulin sensitivity. This combination provides complementary mechanisms of action to effectively manage blood glucose levels in patients with type 2 diabetes.
