Drug intelligence / Profile preview
A fixed-dose **oral combination drug** composed of three active pharmaceutical ingredients: empagliflozin (a sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 [SGLT2] inhibitor), telmisartan (an angiotensin II receptor blocker [ARB]), and amlodipine (a dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker). This hypothetical or in-development formulation is intended for the treatment of patients with **co-existent hypertension and cardiovascular/metabolic risk factors** such as diabetes. Each component acts via a distinct antihypertensive or cardiometabolic mechanism: empagliflozin reduces glucose reabsorption in the proximal renal tubule, lowering blood glucose and providing cardiorenal protection; telmisartan inhibits angiotensin II type 1 receptor, relaxing blood vessels; amlodipine blocks calcium influx in vascular smooth muscle, causing vasodilation. Such a triple combination is conceived to enhance blood pressure control, simplify therapy, and potentially lower cardiovascular and renal events, especially in high-risk populations. No approved or widely marketed product containing these three agents as a fixed-dose combination is identified as of September 2025.
