Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Empecid L is a topical antifungal cream developed by Bayer. Its active ingredient is Clotrimazole 1%, which belongs to the azole class of antifungal agents. It is primarily indicated for the treatment of vulvar itching with rash due to recurrent vaginal candida, also known as vaginal yeast infection. Clotrimazole works by inhibiting the synthesis of ergosterol, a vital component of fungal cell membranes, leading to increased permeability and leakage of cellular contents, ultimately causing fungal cell death.
