Overview

Empegfilgrastim is a long-acting, pegylated recombinant human granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF) analog. It is designed to stimulate the production, proliferation, and maturation of neutrophils by binding to the G-CSF receptor on hematopoietic cells. This mechanism helps reduce the risk of infection in patients with non-myeloid malignancies receiving myelosuppressive chemotherapy and may also be used for other indications where neutropenia is a concern. Empegfilgrastim acts as an agonist at the granulocyte colony-stimulating factor receptor, activating downstream signaling pathways such as JAK/STAT, PI3K/AKT, and MAPK/ERK to promote neutrophil development and function.
