Empli-03

Empli-03 is an investigational oral buccal tablet containing buprenorphine, developed by Emplicure AB for the treatment of moderate to severe chronic pain. Utilizing the proprietary Emplior bioceramic technology platform, the formulation is designed to provide extended and controlled release of the active ingredient when placed under the upper lip. This bioceramic delivery system also incorporates abuse-deterrent features intended to limit manipulation and misuse. Buprenorphine acts as a partial agonist at the mu-type opioid receptor and an antagonist at the kappa-type opioid receptor. Empli-03 has completed a Phase I pharmacokinetic study demonstrating a steady release profile in healthy volunteers.
