Empowered allogeneic mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) are a second-generation cell therapy candidate developed by Shenzhen Cell Bank, an entity associated with Beike Biotechnology. These cells are engineered or conditioned to possess enhanced therapeutic potency compared to conventional first-generation MSCs, specifically targeting the inflammatory and degenerative environment of knee osteoarthritis (KOA). The empowerment process is designed to improve cell survival, homing, and the secretion of bioactive paracrine factors that promote cartilage repair and suppress synovial inflammation. Currently in the preclinical stage, this therapy represents an advancement in allogeneic stem cell applications for degenerative joint diseases by aiming for higher standardization and efficacy.
