Drug intelligence / Profile preview
EmtinB is a synthetic therapeutic peptide developed by NeuroScientific Biopharmaceuticals Ltd. It is modeled after the β-domain of the human protein metallothionein-II (MT-II) and acts as an agonist for the low-density lipoprotein receptor-related proteins LRP1 and LRP2. By binding to these cell surface receptors, EmtinB triggers signaling pathways that promote neuroprotection, neuroregeneration, and the modulation of neuroinflammation. The drug is being investigated for neurodegenerative conditions such as Alzheimer's disease, multiple sclerosis, and glaucoma. It has demonstrated the ability to cross the blood-brain barrier and has completed a Phase 1 clinical trial assessing safety and pharmacokinetics in healthy volunteers.
