Emtricitabine + elvitegravir + cobicistat + tenofovir disoproxil is an oral fixed-dose combination antiretroviral regimen for HIV-1 infection developed by Gilead Sciences and marketed as Stribild. It combines elvitegravir, an HIV integrase strand transfer inhibitor that blocks integration of viral DNA into the host genome, with cobicistat, a CYP3A inhibitor used as a pharmacokinetic enhancer to boost elvitegravir exposure, plus the nucleoside and nucleotide reverse transcriptase inhibitors emtricitabine and tenofovir disoproxil, which inhibit HIV reverse transcriptase and terminate viral DNA chain elongation. The product is a once-daily single-tablet complete regimen used in treatment-naive patients and as a switch option in virologically suppressed eligible patients with HIV-1 infection.
