emtricitabine + tenofovir disoproxil fumarate + tenofovir alafenamide

This is a combination of three antiretroviral drugs—emtricitabine, tenofovir disoproxil fumarate, and tenofovir alafenamide. All three are nucleoside or nucleotide reverse transcriptase inhibitors (NRTIs) used in the treatment and prevention of HIV-1 infection. Emtricitabine is a cytidine analog; both tenofovir disoproxil fumarate and tenofovir alafenamide are prodrugs of the nucleotide analog reverse transcriptase inhibitor, tenofovir. These agents work by inhibiting HIV-1 reverse transcriptase, an enzyme necessary for viral replication, thereby preventing the synthesis of viral DNA from RNA templates. This triple combination is not a standard fixed-dose product but represents co-administration of these three NRTIs.
