Overview

en-TEAR is a microbiome-based nutraceutical formulation developed by ENBIOSIS Biotechnology to support eye health via the gut-eye axis. Designed using an AI-powered digital twin platform and a retrosynthesis engine, the formulation utilizes food-grade precursors that are metabolized by the gut microbiota to produce beneficial metabolites, such as short-chain fatty acids, which help modulate systemic inflammation. en-TEAR is clinically shown to support tear production, improve tear film stability, reduce ocular surface inflammation, and alleviate dry eye symptoms. It is commercialized as a retail-ready product in powder and bar formats, and is also undergoing a randomized controlled trial for evaporative dry eye disease and Meibomian gland dysfunction.
