Overview
EN3285 (formerly known as RK-0202) is an investigational mucoadhesive liquid formulation of zinc gluconate developed for the prevention and treatment of oral mucositis in patients undergoing radiation therapy or chemoradiotherapy for head and neck cancer. The product utilizes a proprietary MucoAdhesive Liquid (MAL) technology designed to adhere to the oral mucosa, providing a protective barrier and delivering zinc ions directly to the site of injury. Zinc is believed to exert cytoprotective effects by stabilizing cell membranes and acting as an antioxidant, thereby mitigating the mucosal damage caused by reactive oxygen species generated during cancer treatment. Originally developed by RxKinetix, the asset was acquired by Endo Pharmaceuticals in 2006. Despite reaching Phase 3 clinical trials, the development program was ultimately terminated.
