Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**Enalapril + lercanidipine** is an oral fixed-dose antihypertensive combination of enalapril, an angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitor prodrug, and lercanidipine, a dihydropyridine calcium-channel blocker. Enalapril is converted to enalaprilat and reduces angiotensin II formation, while lercanidipine inhibits L-type calcium-channel-mediated vascular smooth-muscle contraction; together these complementary actions lower peripheral vascular resistance and blood pressure. The combination was developed by Recordati and is marketed in multiple countries for essential hypertension, generally when blood pressure is insufficiently controlled with enalapril alone.
