Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**Enalapril maleate + nitrendipine** is an oral fixed-dose antihypertensive combination containing enalapril maleate 10 mg and nitrendipine 20 mg per tablet. Enalapril is a prodrug converted to enalaprilat, which inhibits angiotensin-converting enzyme and reduces angiotensin II formation and aldosterone signaling. Nitrendipine is a dihydropyridine calcium-channel blocker that inhibits L-type voltage-dependent calcium channels in vascular smooth muscle, producing arterial vasodilation. The complementary mechanisms lower blood pressure in adults with essential hypertension that is inadequately controlled with either component alone. It was developed and marketed by Ferrer and is supplied as an immediate-release oral tablet. ([cima.aemps.es](https://cima.aemps.es/cima/dochtml/ft/64505/FichaTecnica_64505.html))
