Overview

Enamelast is a flavored, xylitol-sweetened dental varnish containing 5% sodium fluoride in a resin carrier. It is designed for professional topical application to teeth, primarily to prevent dental caries and treat tooth hypersensitivity. The product features a patented adhesion-promoting agent that enhances its retention on the tooth surface, allowing for superior and sustained fluoride release and uptake compared to other varnishes. This results in more effective remineralization of enamel and occlusion of dentinal tubules, reducing sensitivity. Enamelast is available in multiple flavors (including flavor-free) and delivery forms (unit-dose blister packs or syringes). Its smooth texture and nearly invisible appearance encourage patients to leave it on longer for maximum benefit[1][2][3][7][9]. The primary mechanism of action is the mechanical/chemical occlusion of dentinal tubules by sodium fluoride, which strengthens enamel through remineralization.
