Overview

Enantia chlorantha extract is a botanical extract derived from the stem bark of the Enantia chlorantha Oliv. tree (also known as Annickia chlorantha), which is native to West and Central Africa. Traditionally used in African folk medicine to treat malaria, jaundice, typhoid fever, and urinary tract infections, the extract contains bioactive constituents such as protoberberine alkaloids (including palmatine, columbamine, and jatrorrhizine), saponins, flavonoids, and phenols. Preclinical studies have demonstrated that the extract possesses antiplasmodial, antimicrobial, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and antipyretic properties. Additionally, it has been investigated for its cytotoxic activity against certain cancer cell lines and is utilized in cosmetic formulations for sebum regulation and pore refinement.
