enaritide

Enaritide is a synthetic peptide drug candidate developed by Apeptico for the treatment of Pseudohypoaldosteronism type 1b (PHA type 1b), a rare and life-threatening genetic disorder. It functions by targeting and activating the epithelial sodium channel (ENaC), which is dysfunctional in patients with PHA type 1b, leading to severe salt wasting and fluid imbalance. The drug is designed as a dry powder formulation for pulmonary delivery via inhalation, aiming to restore sodium transport and fluid clearance in the lungs. Enaritide received research funding from the Wellcome Trust in 2015 to explore its therapeutic potential for this orphan indication.
