Enavogliflozin is an orally active small molecule drug that acts as a highly selective sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitor. It is developed primarily for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus and has also been investigated for heart failure and diabetic nephropathies. By inhibiting SGLT2 in the kidneys, enavogliflozin reduces glucose reabsorption and increases urinary glucose excretion, leading to improved glycemic control. Clinical studies have shown that it significantly lowers HbA1c levels and fasting plasma glucose while also providing beneficial effects on body weight, blood pressure, lipid profile, and insulin resistance.
