Drug intelligence / Profile preview
ENC-201 is Encellin's lead candidate, an Encapsulated Cell Replacement Therapy (EnCRT) designed for the treatment of Type 1 Diabetes. It consists of primary islets encapsulated within a proprietary device that protects these therapeutic cells from the body's immune system. This allows the encapsulated islets to function as a "living medicine," providing long-term therapeutic benefits, such as insulin production and glucose regulation, from a single implant. The technology originated from research conducted at the UCSF Desai lab.
