Encapsulated faecal microbiome transfer is a live biotherapeutic product (LBP) consisting of donor-derived intestinal microbiota and metabolites processed into an oral capsule. Developed by the University of Auckland, it is designed to restore the disrupted gut microbiome and colonization resistance in patients with recurrent or refractory *Clostridioides difficile* infection (CDI). The therapy works by introducing a complex community of healthy microorganisms to displace pathogens and re-establish microbial diversity. It has been evaluated in randomized clinical trials in New Zealand, comparing its efficacy for sustained cure against standard-of-care oral vancomycin.
