Overview

Encoberminogene rezmadenovec (XC001) is an investigational adenoviral vector-based gene therapy developed by XyloCor Therapeutics. It consists of a recombinant adenoviral vector encoding the vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) gene. The therapy is designed to promote therapeutic angiogenesis — the growth of new blood vessels — within the heart to reduce cardiac ischemia and improve blood flow. It is primarily being developed for patients with refractory angina pectoris and coronary artery disease who have limited treatment options, as well as an adjunct for patients with reduced left ventricular function undergoing coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery.
