EncorStat is an ex vivo gene-modified human donor corneal graft product (OXB-202) being developed to prevent corneal graft rejection in high‑risk keratoplasty. It uses a LentiVector-based gene therapy to transduce donor corneal tissue before transplantation with genes encoding secretable forms of the angiostatic and immunomodulatory proteins endostatin and angiostatin, aiming to inhibit neovascularization and dampen alloimmune responses that drive rejection. Developed by Oxford BioMedica, EncorStat is intended as a one‑time modification of donor corneas at the tissue bank or surgical center, preserving tissue transparency and biomechanical integrity while providing long‑term local expression of anti‑angiogenic factors to improve graft survival in patients at high risk of rejection.[9][11][13][15]
