Drug intelligence / Profile preview
EncOVac is an oral vaccine platform and development program led by a consortium including Poolbeg Pharma, University College Dublin, Trinity College Dublin, and AnaBio Technologies. The platform utilizes AnaBio's proprietary encapsulation technology to deliver vaccine antigens directly to the gut, protecting them from degradation in the stomach. This method is intended to trigger a localized mucosal immune response at the site of infection, which is often the primary entry point for pathogens. The consortium received a €2.3 million grant from the Irish Government's Disruptive Technologies Innovation Fund (DTIF) in 2022 to advance a candidate toward Phase I clinical trials, initially focusing on bacterial infections.
