Drug intelligence / Profile preview
ENCRT-103-hPI is an investigational encapsulated cell replacement therapy (ENCRT) developed by Encellin, Inc. for the treatment of Type 1 Diabetes (T1D). The combination product consists of primary human islets (hPI) encapsulated within Encellin's proprietary ENC-103-CED implantable device. The ENC-103-CED is a soft, thin-film, pouch-like device made of non-fibrosis-inducing materials designed to physically shield the transplanted islets from the host's immune system, thereby preventing immune rejection and eliminating the need for chronic systemic immunosuppression. At the same time, the membrane allows for the exchange of oxygen, nutrients, and glucose-stimulated insulin secretion. ENCRT-103-hPI is entering Phase 1 clinical evaluation (NCT07680673) in Canada, supported by a partnership with Breakthrough T1D.
