Overview

Endometrial glandular epithelial cell exosomes are small extracellular vesicles (typically 30–150 nm in diameter) secreted by the glandular epithelial cells of the endometrium. These exosomes play a crucial role in intercellular communication within the uterine environment, particularly during processes such as embryo implantation and tissue regeneration. They carry proteins, lipids, mRNAs, and microRNAs that can modulate recipient cell behavior. Research has shown that these exosomes can promote proliferation of human endometrial glandular cells and facilitate trophoblast invasion during embryo implantation by reprogramming target cell proteomes through pathways involving focal adhesion molecules and kinases like MAPK3[1][2][5]. Additionally, they have been investigated for their therapeutic potential in conditions such as intrauterine adhesions (IUA) and endometriosis due to their ability to modulate fibrosis markers (e.g., Vimentin, COL5A2, COL1A1) and influence immune responses[1][6]. Currently, their use is primarily experimental or investigational.
