Endometrial regenerative cells are a population of multipotent mesenchymal-like stem/stromal cells isolated from menstrual blood that originate from the endometrial lining and display high proliferative capacity, clonogenicity, and broad differentiation potential into mesodermal and non-mesodermal lineages.[1][7][9] These cells exhibit an immunomodulatory and trophic secretome that can attenuate inflammation, modulate immune responses, and influence angiogenesis and extracellular matrix remodeling, supporting their use as an allogeneic or autologous cell therapy platform in regenerative medicine.[1][7][9] Phenotypically, ERCs share many markers and functional properties with mesenchymal stem cells from bone marrow or adipose tissue but are more readily obtained in a noninvasive manner from menstrual blood and can be expanded efficiently in vitro, making them attractive for clinical development in indications such as neurological disorders, ischemic disease, and tissue repair.[1][7][9] Preclinical work has shown ERC-mediated effects on neovascularization, inhibition of tumor growth in some models, and amelioration of injury in various organ systems, and early-phase clinical trials have evaluated their safety and feasibility in conditions including critical limb ischemia and other inflammatory or degenerative diseases.[1][7][9][15]
