Overview
This combination therapy pairs recombinant human endostatin (rh-endostatin/Endostar) with nedaplatin, a platinum-based chemotherapeutic agent. Endostatin specifically inhibits tumor angiogenesis by targeting microvascular endothelial cells, cutting off nutrient supply and metastasis channels, ultimately inducing tumor cell apoptosis[2]. Nedaplatin is a second-generation platinum compound with similar efficacy to cisplatin but potentially lower toxicity, particularly regarding nephrotoxicity and gastrointestinal side effects[5]. The combination has shown promising activity in several cancer types, including esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC), non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), and in the management of malignant pleural effusion[1][6][4]. Clinical trials have demonstrated that this combination offers improved efficacy with acceptable tolerability compared to single-agent treatments.
