Overview
ENERGI-F703EB Cream is an investigational topical cream formulation of adenine developed by Energenesis Biomedical for the treatment of epidermolysis bullosa (EB), including epidermolysis bullosa simplex (EBS), junctional epidermolysis bullosa (JEB), and dystrophic epidermolysis bullosa (DEB). The drug acts as an adenosine 5'-monophosphate-activated protein kinase (AMPK) activator. By delivering adenine topically, it serves as a substrate to replenish intracellular adenosine triphosphate (ATP) levels in epithelial cells, thereby promoting cell migration, collagen deposition, and accelerating wound healing and tissue repair. ENERGI-F703EB has received Orphan Drug and Rare Pediatric Disease designations from the US FDA, as well as orphan designation from the EMA, and is currently in Phase II clinical development.
