Drug intelligence / Profile preview
ENERGI-F704 is a small molecule drug developed by Energenesis Biomedical. It is a nucleobase analogue isolated from bamboo leaves and functions as an activator (agonist) of AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK). AMPK plays a central role in cellular energy homeostasis and regulates various metabolic pathways, including glucose uptake, fatty acid oxidation, and mitochondrial biogenesis. In addition to its metabolic effects, AMPK activation by ENERGI-F704 has demonstrated anti-inflammatory properties in preclinical studies. Specifically, it suppresses the expression of proinflammatory mediators such as IL-6, IL-8, TNF-α, COX2, and iNOS in macrophages via inhibition of PI3K/p38 MAPK/NF-κB signaling pathways. The compound is being investigated for potential therapeutic use in inflammation-related diseases (including vascular inflammation), diabetic foot ulcers, metabolic disorders, neurodegenerative disorders, mitochondrial disorders, and skin disorders[1][2][4][5][6].
