Overview

The engineered anti-EpCAM IgA antibody is an investigational IgA-class monoclonal antibody designed to target Epithelial Cell Adhesion Molecule (EpCAM, CD326), a protein highly overexpressed on various carcinomas and epithelial cancers. Developed by the Radboud University Medical Center (Radboudumc), this antibody utilizes the IgA isotype to engage myeloid immune effector cells, such as neutrophils and macrophages, which express the FcαRI receptor. This engagement triggers tumor cell destruction via antibody-dependent cell-mediated cytotoxicity (ADCC) and antibody-dependent cell-mediated phagocytosis (ADCP). It is being evaluated in ex vivo translational research studies using blood from healthy volunteers to assess its efficacy in tumor-killing assays, both alone and in combination with other immunotherapies or checkpoint inhibitors.
