Tabby Therapeutics is developing a first-in-class **Engineered B Cell (EBC)** platform for the treatment of solid tumors, with a specific focus on **HPV-associated cancers**. The therapy involves engineering autologous B cells to express a specific **B cell receptor (BCR)** directed against tumor-specific antigens, such as those from the Human Papillomavirus (HPV). This approach induces a multi-modal immune response: the engineered B cells internalize the target antigen to activate oncoantigen-specific T cells and differentiate into plasma cells that secrete antibodies. These antibodies form immune complexes that are subsequently taken up by antigen-presenting cells, further stimulating both innate and adaptive anti-tumor immunity. Preclinical research published in 2025 demonstrated that mouse B cells engineered with an anti-HPV BCR could elicit robust anti-tumor T cell responses.
