Drug intelligence / Profile preview
ENHANZE is a proprietary drug delivery technology developed by Halozyme Therapeutics. It is based on the recombinant human hyaluronidase PH20 enzyme (rHuPH20), which locally degrades hyaluronan (HA)—a major component of the extracellular matrix in subcutaneous tissue. By breaking down HA, ENHANZE temporarily increases tissue permeability and enables rapid, high-volume subcutaneous administration of co-administered drugs that would otherwise require intravenous infusion. This technology facilitates faster drug absorption and dispersion, reduces administration time for patients and healthcare providers, and can extend dosing intervals for certain therapies. ENHANZE has been used to enable subcutaneous formulations of several commercialized biologics across multiple therapeutic areas[1][4][6].
