Overview

Enokizumab is a humanized monoclonal antibody that targets interleukin-9 (IL-9), a cytokine involved in inflammatory and immune responses. By binding to IL-9, enokizumab inhibits its signaling pathway, thereby reducing inflammation and immune system overactivity. The drug was primarily developed for the treatment of asthma and has also been explored for other allergic and inflammatory conditions such as atopic dermatitis. Enokizumab works by neutralizing IL-9, which plays a key role in the survival and activation of mast cells and other immune cells implicated in allergic reactions. Clinical trials have evaluated its efficacy in asthma; however, results did not show significant improvement over existing therapies[2][3][4][5][7].
