Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Enolen is a novel drug-eluting intraprostatic implant developed by Alessa Therapeutics for the treatment of localized, low-to-intermediate-risk prostate adenocarcinoma. The active ingredient is enzalutamide, a potent androgen receptor antagonist. The rice-sized implant is designed for sustained, localized delivery directly into the prostate tissue, providing continuous drug elution for two or more years. This approach aims to achieve high therapeutic concentrations at the tumor site while minimizing systemic exposure and the associated side effects of oral anti-androgen therapy, such as fatigue and hot flashes. It is currently in Phase 1 clinical development and has received FDA Fast Track designation.
