Overview

Enoxaparin + folic acid is an investigational combination regimen studied for the prevention of recurrent miscarriage in women who test negative for antiphospholipid antibodies. The regimen consists of enoxaparin, a low molecular weight heparin (LMWH) that acts as an anticoagulant by accelerating the activity of antithrombin III to inhibit Factor Xa and thrombin, and folic acid, a B-vitamin essential for DNA synthesis and homocysteine regulation. This combination was evaluated in a randomized controlled trial led by researchers at Assiut University, which demonstrated improved pregnancy outcomes compared to folic acid alone, suggesting that LMWH may benefit women with unexplained recurrent miscarriage by addressing potential subclinical thrombotic issues or placental vascular complications.
