enoxaparin + aspirin

Enoxaparin + aspirin is a combination therapy consisting of enoxaparin, a low molecular weight heparin anticoagulant, and aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid), an antiplatelet agent. This combination is used primarily to prevent complications from acute coronary syndromes such as unstable angina and heart attacks. Enoxaparin works by inhibiting factor Xa and IIa (thrombin), thereby reducing the formation of blood clots, while aspirin irreversibly inhibits cyclooxygenase-1 (COX-1) in platelets, preventing the formation of thromboxane A2 and thus platelet aggregation. The dual action provides enhanced protection against clot formation but also increases the risk of bleeding complications, particularly gastrointestinal bleeding.
