**Enoximone + metoprolol succinate** is a pharmacological combination consisting of the **phosphodiesterase III inhibitor enoximone** and the **selective beta-1 adrenergic receptor blocker metoprolol succinate**. Enoximone acts as a positive inotropic agent, increasing cardiac contractility by inhibiting phosphodiesterase III, which leads to increased intracellular cAMP and enhanced calcium influx in cardiac cells. Metoprolol succinate decreases heart rate and myocardial oxygen demand by antagonizing beta-1 adrenergic receptors in the heart. The combination has been investigated primarily in patients with advanced or refractory congestive heart failure (CHF), particularly as a bridge to beta-blocker therapy or heart transplantation. Clinical studies found that enoximone alone improves cardiac index and lowers pulmonary wedge pressure, while the addition of metoprolol improves heart rate control and reduces myocardial oxygen consumption, creating a more physiologic hemodynamic profile for patients with severe heart failure[1][2][3][4][5][6].
