Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Ensituximab is a chimeric monoclonal antibody developed for the treatment of cancer, specifically targeting gastrointestinal malignancies such as colorectal cancer. It binds to a tumor-associated variant of Mucin 5AC (MUC5AC), a mucin protein expressed on the surface of certain cancer cells but not on normal tissue. By binding to this target, ensituximab is designed to mediate immune responses against tumor cells through mechanisms such as antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity and complement-dependent cytotoxicity. The drug was developed by Nascent Biotech and has been evaluated in clinical trials for metastatic colorectal cancer.
