Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This is a combination therapy consisting of three agents: - **Entecavir** is a nucleoside analogue antiviral drug that inhibits hepatitis B virus (HBV) DNA polymerase, thereby suppressing viral replication. It is primarily used for the treatment of chronic hepatitis B infection. - **Carvedilol** is a non-selective beta-blocker with additional alpha-1 blocking activity, commonly used to manage hypertension and reduce portal hypertension in patients with liver cirrhosis. - **Fuzheng Huayu (FZHY)** is a traditional Chinese medicine formula composed of six herbs (Radix Salvia Miltiorrhizae, Cordyceps, Semen Persicae, Gynostemma Pentaphyllammak, Pollen Pini, Fructus Schisandrae Chinensis). FZHY has demonstrated antifibrotic effects in clinical and experimental studies by inhibiting hepatic stellate cell activation, protecting hepatocytes from injury and oxidative stress, modulating immune responses in the liver microenvironment, and improving liver function. The combination of entecavir with FZHY has been shown to improve outcomes in patients with chronic hepatitis B-related cirrhosis by reducing fibrosis progression and lowering the risk of hepatocellular carcinoma[1][3][4][6].
