Overview

This product is a combination of two probiotic strains, Enterococcus faecium LMG S-28935 and Saccharomyces boulardii MUCL 53837. Both are live microorganisms used as probiotics to promote gut health and restore or maintain the balance of intestinal microbiota. **Enterococcus faecium** is a lactic acid bacterium known for its ability to survive the digestive process, adhere to intestinal surfaces, compete with pathogenic bacteria for resources and adhesion sites, stimulate immune function, regulate cell proliferation in the gut epithelium, and potentially lower cholesterol levels[2][3][4]. It has been studied for use in preventing or treating antibiotic-associated diarrhea, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), and other gastrointestinal disorders[4]. **Saccharomyces boulardii** is a non-pathogenic yeast widely used as a probiotic for prevention and treatment of various forms of diarrhea (including antibiotic-associated diarrhea), Clostridioides difficile infection recurrence prevention, traveler’s diarrhea prophylaxis/treatment, and support during Helicobacter pylori eradication therapy. Its mechanisms include restoration of normal gut flora balance after disruption by antibiotics or illness; secretion of factors that inhibit pathogen adherence; modulation of local immune responses; degradation of bacterial toxins; enhancement of mucosal barrier function; and anti-inflammatory effects. The combination aims to provide synergistic benefits by combining bacterial (E. faecium) with yeast (S. boulardii) probiotics—potentially broadening antimicrobial activity against pathogens while supporting both immune modulation and restoration/maintenance of healthy gut flora.
