Drug intelligence / Profile preview
EnteroMix (investigational code: EM-I-2024) is an experimental oncolytic virotherapy and cancer immunotherapy developed by the National Medical Research Radiological Centre of the Ministry of Health of Russia. It is a biological agent consisting of a mixture of four replication-competent human enteroviruses: Coxsackievirus A21, Echovirus 7, Enterovirus B75, and a modified derivative of a Sabin poliovirus vaccine strain. The drug's mechanism involves leveraging the natural tumor tropism of these viral vectors to infect and lyse malignant cells, triggering innate and adaptive immune responses. Key biological targets include ICAM-1 (intercellular adhesion molecule 1), CD55 (decay-accelerating factor), and CD155 (poliovirus receptor) as cellular receptors. It is indicated for advanced solid tumors in patients who have exhausted standard therapies. EnteroMix is currently in a Phase I dose-escalation clinical trial (ClinicalTrials.gov: NCT07584668), evaluating safety, tolerability, and pharmacokinetics via intravenous and intra-arterial administration.
