This is an inactivated Enterovirus 71 (EV71) vaccine developed to prevent hand, foot, and mouth disease (HFMD) in children. The vaccine contains the EV71 virus grown in human diploid cells, inactivated with formaldehyde, and adsorbed onto an aluminum hydroxide adjuvant. It is designed to elicit protective neutralizing antibodies against Enterovirus A71, which is a major cause of severe HFMD and associated neurological complications in young children. The vaccine is typically administered as a two-dose primary series to infants and children aged 6 months to 5 years. Clinical trials, including Phase 4 studies conducted by the Jiangsu Province Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, have evaluated its safety, immunogenicity, and compatibility when co-administered with other routine pediatric vaccines such as Hepatitis B and Group A meningococcal vaccines.
