enuvaptan

Enuvaptan (BAY 2327949) is an oral small-molecule vasopressin V1a receptor antagonist being developed by Bayer for the treatment of chronic kidney disease, particularly in patients with type 2 diabetes or hypertension and cardiovascular comorbidities.[3][5][10] By selectively blocking the vasopressin 1a receptor, enuvaptan is designed to reduce vasopressin-mediated vasoconstriction in the renal microcirculation, thereby improving renal blood flow and tissue oxygenation, decreasing intraglomerular pressure, and ultimately reducing albuminuria and slowing progression of kidney damage.[1][3][10] Early clinical studies have evaluated its pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, safety, and effects on renal perfusion and urine albumin-to-creatinine ratio in adults with varying degrees of renal impairment and chronic kidney disease.[1][5][8][10]
