Overview

ENV1105 is an investigational intravitreal, fully biodegradable extended-release implant designed to deliver the corticosteroid dexamethasone for the treatment of retinal diseases. The formulation uses PRINT (Particle Replication In Non-Wetting Templates) nano- and microparticle technology to achieve a near zero-order release rate of dexamethasone over approximately six months. The goal is to provide sustained therapeutic concentrations in posterior segment tissues (retina, choroid, vitreous) while minimizing anterior segment and systemic exposure. This may reduce side effects commonly associated with intravitreal corticosteroids such as cataract formation and intraocular pressure elevation. ENV1105 was originally developed by Envisia Therapeutics and later acquired by Aerie Pharmaceuticals; development has since been continued by Alcon[1][2][3][4][6][8].
