Drug intelligence / Profile preview
EnVAX-A71 is an inactivated, whole-virus vaccine developed for the prevention of disease caused by enterovirus 71 (EV71), a major causative agent of hand, foot, and mouth disease (HFMD) and herpangina in children. The vaccine is based on the B4 subgenotype strain prevalent in Taiwan and has demonstrated high efficacy—99.21% protective efficacy—in Phase III clinical trials conducted in both Taiwan and Vietnam. EnVAX-A71 received marketing authorization from the Taiwan Food and Drug Administration (TFDA) in 2023 for use as active immunization against EV71 infection in children aged from 2 months to less than 6 years. The vaccine utilizes cell culture bioreactor technology for manufacturing, ensuring high yield and scalability. It is also Halal certified to facilitate broader distribution across Southeast Asia[1][4][5][6].
