Overview

Enzobiotics is an oral synbiotic therapeutic developed by Mylin Biotech (Mylin Holdings) for the treatment of Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD). The formulation is a combination of probiotics, prebiotics, and proteolytic enzymes (enzobiotics) delivered in an acid- and bile-resistant capsule. It targets the gut-kidney axis by shifting the intestinal microbiome from a dysbiotic state to a healthy one, thereby reducing the generation and systemic accumulation of protein-bound uremic toxins, specifically p-cresyl sulfate (PCS) and indoxyl sulfate (IS). These toxins are known to contribute to CKD progression and cardiovascular complications. By lowering toxin levels and systemic inflammatory markers such as IL-6 and TNF-α, Enzobiotics aims to slow the progression of CKD, delay the requirement for dialysis, and improve patient quality of life. The product is currently being evaluated in the EETOX study, a multicenter Phase 2/3 clinical trial, and is protected by patent no. 412644.
