Drug intelligence / Profile preview
EP-088_MM09 (also known as MM09 or PM-HDM) is an investigational allergen immunotherapy developed by Inmunotek S.L. for the treatment of house dust mite-induced allergic rhinitis, rhinoconjunctivitis, and allergic asthma. It is a subcutaneous or sublingual vaccine consisting of a 50/50 mixture of glutaraldehyde-polymerized allergoids from the house dust mites *Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus* and *Dermatophagoides farinae*, which are covalently conjugated to non-oxidized mannan derived from *Saccharomyces cerevisiae*. The polymerization of the allergens into allergoids reduces their IgE-binding capacity, thereby improving safety by minimizing the risk of systemic IgE-mediated allergic reactions. The mannan conjugation acts as a biological adjuvant that targets C-type lectin receptors (such as the mannose receptor/CD206 and DC-SIGN) on dendritic cells, enhancing allergen uptake and processing. This targeted delivery promotes a shift from a Th2-mediated allergic response toward a protective Th1 and T-regulatory (Treg) cell response, inducing long-term immunological tolerance.
