EP-1043

EP-1043 is a multi-epitope recombinant protein vaccine developed as a prophylactic (preventive) vaccine against HIV, specifically targeting HIV-1. It is designed to induce HIV-specific helper T-cell responses by presenting multiple epitopes from the virus, thereby stimulating the immune system to recognize and respond to potential infection. The mechanism of action is immunostimulation, aiming to enhance the body's immune response against HIV. The drug was originally developed by Pharmexa-Epimmune and Onyvax Ltd., with later involvement from the National Institute of Allergy & Infectious Diseases (NIAID). Clinical development reached phase 1 trials for prevention of HIV infections but has not advanced further in recent years[1][2].
