Drug intelligence / Profile preview
EP1645 is a radiopharmaceutical imaging agent developed by Biotectid GmbH for the detection and monitoring of joint inflammation in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA). It consists of a Fab fragment of a monoclonal antibody targeting the CD4 receptor, which is expressed on the surface of T-helper cells that infiltrate the synovium during active RA. The fragment is labeled with the radioisotope Technetium-99m (Tc99m), allowing for visualization via scintigraphy or SPECT imaging. By specifically binding to CD4+ cells at sites of inflammation, EP1645 provides a non-invasive method to assess disease activity and distribution across multiple joints simultaneously. This approach aims to improve diagnostic accuracy and facilitate the early evaluation of response to disease-modifying therapies.
