Drug intelligence / Profile preview
EP2306 is a novel, small molecule squalene synthase inhibitor with demonstrated hypolipidemic, antiatherosclerotic, and antioxidant properties. Preclinical studies show that EP2306 significantly reduces total cholesterol and atherosclerotic lesions in animal models, acting through inhibition of lipid biosynthesis. It also increases the expression of endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS) in endothelial cells but does not appear to affect eNOS enzymatic activity. EP2306 is being investigated primarily for the treatment of hypercholesterolemia and atherosclerosis, and it has shown a favorable safety profile in animal studies[1][3][5][10].
