Overview

EP282 is a proprietary, oral, small molecule agonist of the Free fatty acid receptor 2 (FFAR2), also known as GPR43. Developed by EPICS Therapeutics, it is being investigated for the treatment of gastrointestinal inflammatory disorders, including ulcerative colitis, and intestinal infections such as *Clostridioides difficile* infection. FFAR2 is a metabolite-sensing G-protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) that recognizes short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) produced by gut microbiota, playing a critical role in immune regulation and intestinal homeostasis. EP282 has completed Phase I clinical trials evaluating safety, tolerability, and pharmacokinetics in healthy volunteers and is prepared for Phase II clinical development.
